Yukon Festivals & Events, Summer 2018
Whitehorse and Yukon communities are full of fun events for all ages throughout the summer. Check out a few listed below:
Outdoor Fireweed Community Market – May 17 – September 13
Offers a unique summer experience for farm-gate style production and consumption of local products.
Products such as: jewelry, fine art and crafts, fresh produce, plants, prepared foods, hot meals, personal care products, music, and art and agricultural workshops.
Open every Thursday at Shipyards Park from 3pm to 7pm.
Arts in the Park – Starts May 22, weekdays from 12pm – 1pm
Lepage Park weekdays during the summer for live music and performances by local and visiting musicians.
Kluane Moutain Bluegrass Festival – June 8 – 10
Come partake in a lively music festival
National Aboriginal Day – June 21
Check in with the community you’re closest to for their local First Nation’s events, celebrations and more.
24 Hours of Light Mountain Bike Festival – June 23 – 34
Mountain bike race that has a unique flair.
Solo bikers and teams of all ages and abilities will race around the trails of Mt. McIntyre.
The team that does the most amount of laps in the allotted time wins!
Adaka Cultural Festival – June 29 – July 5
Celebrates and showcases Yukon First Nations arts and culture.
Program includes traditional and contemporary music, dance, drumming, arts and crafts, storytelling, film, artist demonstrations, workshops, cultural presentations, a community feast and more!
Canada Day – July 1
A parade down 2nd Avenue ends at noon at Shipyards in Whitehorse, where ceremonies and celebrations will take place throughout the afternoon.
Dawson City celebrates Canada Day with a parade, a barbeque, and the annual Gold Panning Championships.
Watson Lake has kid’s activities, a humongous cake, horseshoes, a candy drop and so much more at Lucky Lake Park.
Atlin Arts & Music Festival – July 6 to July 8
The Atlin Arts and Music Festival invites artists and audiences from the Yukon, Canada and around the world to the picturesque town of Atlin, BC for a weekend of music, art, dancing, storytelling, and more.
Dawson City Music Festival – July 20 – July 22
Dawson comes alive with arts and music during this “tiny perfect music festival”.
Venues around Dawson City host performances by a wide variety of musicians from the Yukon, Canada and around the world.
Enjoy intimate venues, diverse genres, and the work of local artists and artisans.
Discovery Days in Dawson City – August 16 – 20
The Discovery Day long weekend is a unique Yukon holiday that celebrates the day gold was discovered at Bonanza Creek near Dawson City.
Long weekend festivities make Dawson City the place to be.
