Vehicles
All Overland Yukon rentals require customers to agree and accept our Insurance Policy. This policy includes Third Party Liability, Collision and Comprehensive as secondary insurance. This insurance also covers customers who cross border and travel into Alaska, USA (USA surcharge is required). For more details, view our Terms & Conditions.
Equipment
Customers are responsible for all equipment damages. Equipment is not included in any insurance coverage from Overland Yukon. Any suspected damage from misuse or negligence may be subject to additional fees, repairs or replacements.
WINDSHIELD
Windshield Coverage is not included in our general insurance policy. Overland Yukon offers additional Windshield Coverage at $19.95 per day. Full details can be reviewed in our terms and conditions. This add-on does not cover clients driving on the Dempster Highway. This coverage is not valid if the damage is related to an accident, unauthorized use or negligence.
Guests Belongings
Guest belongings are not covered under any insurance plan from Overland Yukon. Overland Yukon is not liable for any lost, stolen or damaged customer belongings.
Payment
Deposit
To confirm your reservation, 25% of your booking total is due upon completion of the booking process. For example, if you want to reserve 4 nights ($1,180 at $295/night), to confirm your booking, you must pay a $295 deposit. Your remaining balance is due one week prior to your trip.
Payment
Full payment must be made one week prior to your booking. This cost would be the full amount minus your booking deposit. Using the above example, one week prior to your trip, $885 is due. If this amount isn't paid, customers risk losing their booking.
Cancellations & Refunds
No cancellation fees apply up to 30 days prior to the pick-up date and a full refund of the deposit will be made upon request. Cancellations within 30 days of pick-up will be charged the full amount of the deposit. Cancellations within one week will be charged 100% of the rental cost. No refunds can be given for early returns. All cancellations must be submitted by email to Overland Yukon.
Damage Deposit
Each rental requires a damage deposit of $2,500.00. A credit card is required at the time of vehicle pick-up to perform this transaction and it will be taken in the form of a pre-authorization. It is the Customer's responsibility to ensure that their credit limit will accept this size of pre-authorization. No refund will be given at the time of pick-up if a suitable card is not presented.
Frequntly Asked Questions
Q: Do I require an international drivers license?
A: All foreign tourists are required to have a valid driver's license from their home country. If the drivers license is not in English then we require an international drivers license.
Q: What is the minimum reservation time?
A: The minimum rental period is 7-days.
Q: Can I pick up or return the vehicle at a later time than specified?
A: Yes; Early pick-up (before opening) is possible for $150. Late drop-off (after closing) is possible for $150. Both are subject to availability and must be agreed upon prior to picking up your vehicle.
Q: How much of a reservation deposit is required?
A: A reservation deposit equal to 25% of the invoiced total is required to confirm your booking. This will be calculated during the booking process.
Q: Can I rent the vehicle one way?
A: Overland Yukon will entertain one-way rental proposals only prior to renting the Vehicles for an agreed upon rate which compensates for the transit costs and the loss of revenue while the vehicle is unable to be rented.
Q: Does the rental include a satellite phone?
A: No. Satellite phones can be rented from one of our northern partners. Please let us know you will require one at the time of booking and we can coordinate the logistics to ensure you have one reserved for your trip. We offer devices that provided unlimited satellite text messaging for a one-time fee. Customers must connect this device to their personal smartphones.
Q: Are animals allowed?
A: No. Overland Yukon does not allow animals in the vehicles or roof top tents.
Q: How old do I have to be to drive the vehicle?
A: Driver's must be 21 years of age and the driver’s license cannot be a learner’s, novice or similarly restricted license. The license must be valid for the whole length of the rental.
Q: Can the vehicles be driven into the US?
A: Yes. All travel into the US requires a USA Surcharge. If this is not added into your rental, insurance coverage from Overland Yukon is void.
Q: Can I get picked up from the airport or my hotel?
A: Yes. Please contact us ahead of time and let us know you require a pick up. We will coordinate a pick-up and drop-off for you.
Q: Do I have to pay tax?
A: Yes, the Yukon requires a 5% GST (Goods & Services Tax) on all purchases whether you are a local or tourist.
Q: How far can I drive the vehicle? Am I limited on the amount of distance I can drive each day?
A: You may drive the vehicle as many KM's as you would like; however, each rental includes 200KM free per day for a total booking allotment. Any mileage driven over this allotment will be charged at $0.40/KM when the vehicle is returned.
Q: If I have a 7 day rental and I drive 100KM day one, 400KM day two, 600KM day three and 100KM day four, do I have to pay additional distance charges?
A: No. The total rental period is 7 days, giving you 200KM per day. This creates a total of 1,400KM over the seven days. This example only uses 1,200KM.
Q: Do I need a camping permit?
A: Yes, a government issued permit is required to stay at Yukon Government campgrounds. These can be purchased online or self-register at each campground with cash when you arrive.
