Recommendations

We strongly recommend carrying emergency supplies, planning fuel stops in advance, monitoring road and weather conditions and travelling with caution on remote highways.

Windshield damage is not included in standard insurance coverage. Optional Windshield Coverage is available for $19.95 per day.

This coverage:

  • Does not apply to travel on the Dempster Highway

  • Is not valid for accident-related damage

  • Does not cover damage resulting from negligence or unauthorized use

Please review full terms prior to purchase.

Security deposit

A $1,000 security deposit is required at vehicle pick-up and will be processed as a credit card charge.

This deposit may be applied toward:

  • Damage or insurance deductible amounts

  • Additional mileage charges

  • Cleaning or restoration fees

  • Remote highway surcharges

  • Equipment loss or damage

  • Administrative or recovery costs

The unused portion of the deposit will be released following the return inspection of the vehicle.

Vehicle Returns

  • Weekdays: by 4:30 PM

  • Weekends: by 3:30 PM

Late drop-offs must be pre-arranged and are subject to a $150 fee.

Appointment only

Due to limited staffing, we operate by appointment only. All pick-ups and drop-offs must be scheduled in advance.

Highway Fees

Certain roads require an additional usage fee due to the increased wear and tear caused by gravel surfaces, rough conditions, and the remote nature of these routes. These charges are not related to insurance or damage coverage, but reflect the higher maintenance demands associated with travelling on these roads.

  • Dempster Highway: $300

  • Top of the World Highway: $150

  • Robert Campbell Highway: $150

  • Travel into the United States: $100

Please notify us in advance if you plan to travel on any of these routes.

Risk Responsibility

Travel on non-paved roads is at the customer’s own risk. This includes routes such as:

  • Dempster Highway

  • Top of the World Highway

  • Robert Campbell Highway

  • Canol Roads

Safe travel on remote gravel highways depends heavily on the driver. We strongly encourage cautious driving, reduced speeds, and constant awareness of changing road conditions. These routes are extremely remote and rugged, so taking extra precautions is essential. As we like to say when travelling the Dempster Highway, “slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”

Overland Yukon will provide reasonable support and guidance if issues arise during your journey.

Our team is available to assist with guidance, coordination, and next steps should unexpected situations occur.

Due to the remote nature of many travel routes, response times may vary and guests should be prepared for limited connectivity, delays, and self-reliance in certain situations.
